To the Honorable the County Court of Hickman County. We, William Dobson, Arthur Ayres, John E Oliver, James Day, Shadrach Oliver, Dawson Campbell, Michael Hogan, Benjamin Barnes, Dennis S Steele Sr., Thomas Vincent, John Thompson, Burrel Webb being summoned by the Sheriff of said County to view the sight were William Hendrix proposes to build a water grist mill on the little Bayou de Chien in said County after being duly sworn and charged by said Sheriff to examine what land will be overflowed by the erection of a dam for a water grist mill and say to what damage it will be of to the several proprietors and whether the mansion house of any such proprietors or the offices curtelages or gardens thereunto immediately belonging or orchards will be overflown also whether and in what degree fish of passage and ordinary navigation will be obstructed thereby whether by and by what means such obstructions may be prevented and whether in our opinion the health of the neighbors will be annoyed by the stagnation of the waters. And in compliance with the said charge have examined the lands above and below the place where said William Hendrix proposes to build a water grist mill and are of opinion that said Hendrix has a ? simple title to land on which he proposes to build said water grist mill and have allowed said Hendrix to build his dam seven feet high from low water mark and are also of opinion that by the erection of said dam that the lands or mansion house any such proprietors or the offices curtelages or gardens thereunto immediately belonging or orchards will be not over flowed and also that fish of passage and ordinary navigation will not be obstructed nor the health of the neighbors be annoyed by the erection of said dam. All of which we respectfully report & Given under our hands and seal this 14th day of September 1832.
