William Irvin to Belknap Lousdale & Co. Deed Book C Pages 47-48
Know all men that I, W.M. Irvin of the County of Hickman and state of Kentucky, for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars to me in hand paid by Belknap Lousdale & Co. the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained sold and confirmed and by these presents doth bargain sell and confirm to the said Belknap Lousdale & Co. a certain gray horse about six years old and bay colt both in my possession also the crop of corn that I am now raising supposed to be sixteen acres and one half acre of tobacco be the same more or less to have and to hold the said horse and colt and corn & tobacco to the only proper use and benefit of the said Belknap Lousdale & Co. the title to which I will warrant and defend against the claim or claims of every person or persons whatsoever. Recorded always and it is hereby agreed between the said parties that if the said W.M. Irvin shall pay or cause to be paid unto the said Belknap Lousdale & Co. the full sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars on or before the 1st day of January 1835 then these presents to be null & void otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this 6th day of July 1835.

Hickman County to wit;
I, Henry L Edrington, clerk of the county court for said county do certify that the foregoing mortgage from Wm M Irvin to Belknap Lousdale & Co. was produced to me on this 15th day of July 1835 and acknowledged by the said grantor to be his act and deed. Whereupon the same together with the foregoing certificate hath been duly recorded in my office. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 31st day of October 1835.
