This indenture
made and entered into this 3rd day of December 1831 Between Penelope Lewis of
the county of Hickman and state of Kentucky of the one part and Matthew C Patton
Trustee for David and Rosanna Lewis of the county and State aforesaid of the
other part. Witnesseth that the said Penelope Lewis for and in consideration of
the sum of one dollar hath this day transferred and by these presents doth sell
and transfer unto MC Patton trustee as aforesaid the following Property to wit;
1 saddle, 1 open account on HN Merritt for $300, one note on HN Merritt for
$110, one receipt for collection on GW Liddle for $80, one note of hand on Wm
Morrison for $4. 1 rifle gun, 3 feather beds and furniture, 2 chests, 2 trunks,
1 table, 7 chairs, 4 puter dishes, 4 puter Basons, 10 puter plates, 1 pair, five
dogs, 3 pot hooks, 3 potts, 4 skillets, 1 oven tongs and shovel cullender and
ladle, 2 jugs, 2 spinning wheels, 1 reel, 1 small library of books, 2 cows and
calves, 1 mattock, 3 weeding hoes, 1 plow and 1 pair of gears - to have and to
hold the said property so transferred to him the said MC Patton Trustee as
aforesaid forever provided however and it is expressly understood the said
property to be held by MC Patton in trust for me and to our proper use and
behoof during my natural life and at my death to be equally divided among my two
last children David and Roseann. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my
hand and affixed my seal the day and date first above written.

Commonwealth of Kentucky, Hickman County I Henry L Edrington clerk of the county court for the county aforesaid do certify that the foregoing deed of trust from Penelope Lewis to Matthew C Patton was produced to me in my office on the 6th day of February 1832 and proven by the oaths of Claiborn Brewer and Andrew Grace subscribing witnesses thereto to be the act and deed of the said Penelope Lewis for the purposes therein contained whereupon the same was admitted to record In testimony that I have recorded the same together with this certificate. I have hereunto set my hand this 17th day of August 1832. HL Edrington
