The Commonwealth of Kentucky
Hickman County & Circuit set:
The Grand Jurors duly empanelled sworn and charged to enquire for said Commonwealth and the body of the county aforesaid at the April Term of the Hickman Circuit Court in the year 1839, upon their oaths present that Isaac Hicks last of said county yeoman, on the 1st day of April in the year 1839 at the county & circuit aforesaid presume to keep a Tipling House by selling and retailing ardent spirits by the small viz ½ pint of Whiskey, ½ pint of Rum & ½ pint of Brandy without first having obtained a license to keep a Tavern according to law, contrary to the form of the Statue in that case made and provided & against the peace and dignity of the Commonwealth.
