Revolutionary War Pension Application
of Thomas Duddleston

State of Kentucky
County of Garrard

To the honorable Wm. L. Kelly, one of the circuit judges for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Your petitioner, Thomas Duddleston, a citizen of Garrard County, Kentucky, states he enlisted as a regular soldier in the year of 1776 in the Continental service for the term of two years under Capt Richard C. Anderson. That he served faithfully for that term and received an honorable discharge. That he afterwards again joined the army, and enlisted under Capt John Anderson and went to the south, and was attached to the Division commanded Genl Green. That he does not recollect the name of his Colonel, but he well remembers the name of his Major was Snead.

That he was in the Battle at Guilford Courthouse, at Camden, at 96, and at the Eutaw Springs.

That he received another honorable discharge, which he here presents to your Honor for your inspection, together with his oath of allegiance. That he has lost his first discharge. That he was where he first joined Louise, the name attached to the first Virginia Regiment. That he does not well remember who was the Colonel but believes it was Col. Scott.

That he is now very old, decrepit, incapable of doing any work, and unable to walk about at present, having been lately crippled by a fall from his horse. That he is very poor, and stands greatly in need of assistance from his Government.

Benjamin Letcher, a credible witness, states he is well acquainted with the situation of the said Thomas Duddleston, the applicant, and that he knows he is very poor and helpless and believes he merits assistance from his Government, as much as any man on the ---. Genl Wm Jennings concurs in the above statement.
