Clayton Anderson, Confederacy Amnesty Pardon
Clayton Anderson was issued a pardon by the US govt in 1865, he went to US Provost Marshal’s office at Lexington on 13 Nov 1865 and swore allegiance to the US.
His papers said he was 5'7" tall, light complected, white hair and blue eyes, 56 years old.

To His Excellency, Andrew Johnson, President of the US,
The petitioner, Clayton Anderson, states that he is a citizen of Garrard County, State of Kentucky - that in 1862, he left the State of Kentucky, and was connected with the army in rebellion against the United States. He states that in July 1863, he was captured and held a prisoner of war until March 1865 when he was sent forward to Richmond for exchange but not being able to reach the army under Genl. Lee, his exchange was never perfected, but he was paroled and furloughed and furnished transportation to Nashville, TN. He states he took the oath of allegiance to the United States at Chattanooga, TN. He states that it is his purpose to keep and observe the same, and perform all the duties of a loyal citizen. Being excluded by the terms of the Proclamation of your Excellency from the general amnesty, the value of his estate being more than twenty thousand dollars before the rebellion, he respectfully petitions your Excellency for a full pardon and for restoration of his rights as a citizen of the United States and will ever pray to. This Clayton Anderson was a son of James Anderson and Margaret M. Alcorn. James and Margaret were married in Garrard Co. in Jan 1801. Clayton married Elzina Jennings 29 Oct 1846 also in Garrard Co.
