Roy Henry Cochren died Wednesday morning at his residence in Burgin. He was born and reared in Garrard county and was a member of the Little Zion Baptist church of Burgin and the U.B. Lodge at Davistown.

Chappell, Thomas A.
LANCASTER - Thomas A. Chappell, 85, of Herring Heights, died Sunday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital. Born June 30, 1912, in Garrard County, he was a son of Thomas and Nannie B. Smith Chappell. He was a retired State Highway Department engineer, a World War II Army veteran and a member of Lancaster Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Chappell of Lexington; two sons, Tom Chappell of Midway and Gary Chappell of Lexington; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Lancaster Baptist Church by the Rev. Bob Rush. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Monday at the church. Ramsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Cheatham, Mary Evans
Mary Elliott Cheatham, 92, formerly of Beech Street, died Tuesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born July 3, 1906, in Garrard County, she was a daughter of the late David and Nannie B. Moore Evans. She was a homemaker and a member of Salt River Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Everett L. Cheatham of Sheffield Lake, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Elisha M. Cheatham and Ralph Cheatham.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Visitation is after 4 p.m. today. Memorials may go to Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Clark, Henry Francis
Henry Francis Clark departed this life at 2 o‘clock last Thursday morning at the home of his son, R. B. Clark on Maple avenue in this city after a long illness.
After funeral services at the home of Mr. R. B. Clark, conducted by Misses Hazel Overton and Elizabeth Westerbelt, his remains were placed to rest in the Clark family buryng grounds in the county.
Mr. Clark is survived by three sons, R. B., Samuel and George Clark, of this county, two daughters Mrs. Elisha Dennis and Miss Louanna Clark also of this county; also by three brothers, Messrs James Clark of Lancaster and John and Nicholas Clark both of Missouri, and a sister, Mrs. Edna Dunn also of Missouri. Mr. Clark’s wife, who before her marriage was Miss Elizabeth Cordelia Naylor, preceded him to the grave twenty years ago. Mr. Clark was a lifelong member of the Christian church. “Franz” Clark, as he was known to almost everyone, was one of Garrard county’s best citizens and no cleverer man ever dwelled within her bounds. Open-handed, honest, good neighbor and friend, there will be many a heart sadder that Franz Clark has passed to the Great Beyond.
The Record joins in deep sympathy with his host of friends and acquaintances, to the loved ones who mourn the death of this good man.
Clifton, Ida Rae Preston
LANCASTER - Ida Rae Clifton, 78, of Southway Drive, died Friday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital (January 1999).
Born Oct. 13, 1920, in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Moody Hurt Preston. She was a factory worker and a member of Assembly of God Church in Kettering, Ohio, and attended Faith Fellowship Church, Danville. She was the widow of Charles Clifton.
Survivors include three sisters, Ruth Turner, Edith Baker and Grace Peel, all of Lancaster; four half-sisters, Leoma Turner, Nina Gilliam and Patsy Gilliam, all of Lancaster, and Bonnie Ledford, of Stanford; three half-brothers, Virgil Preston and Kinnaird Preston, both of Mitchellsburg, and David Preston of Lancaster.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Revs. Rudy Henderson and Daryl Hodge. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens in Dayton, Ohio. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. today.
Clouse, Irvine
Mr. Irvine Clouse died at his home at Coy, KY, June 1, 1916. Mr. Clouse was a devoted member of the Christian church, having become a member of the Scotts Fork church at an early age in life. He was a honest upright man and loved by all who knew him. He was 53 years old at the time of his death. He is suvived by a wife and five children, a brother and sister and a host of friends who mourn his loss. His remains were laid to rest in the Scotts Fork cemetery.

Collett, William D.
LANCASTER - Services for William David Collett, 70, of Davis Avenue will be 2 p.m. Monday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Rev. Zora Oliver. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mike Collett, Ricky Ballard, Harry Drummer, Daryl Seybold, Darrell Brown and Bobby Collett. Honorary pallbearer will be Wayne Ballard.
He died Thursday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital. Born Feb. 22, 1928, in Garrard County, he was a son of the late Jim and Helen Caleb Collett. He was a self-employed auto body repairman, served in the Navy and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Olivia Ballard Collett; three sons, Jackie David Collett, William Kenneth Collett and Ronald Keith Collett, all of Lancaster; two daughters, Carolyn Faye Collett of Lancaster and Kaye Darlene Edwards of North Carolina; a brother, Jimmy Collett of Watsontown, Pa.; four sisters, Junanita Morgan of Lancaster, Opal Carol Aldridge and Ramona Collett, both of Lexington, and Betty Price of Crab Orchard; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Collins, Crampton H.
Mr. Crampton H. Collins died at his home near McCreary in this county on October 28th (1915) and after funeral services at the home conducted by Rev. E. C. Lacy, of Ewing, Ky., his remains were interred in the Lancaster cemetery on October 29th.
Mr. Collins' death resulted from injuries sustained in a fall from his tobacco barn several weeks previous to his death. Mr. Collins had for some years been a consistent member of the Antioch Christian church.
He was born in Fentress county, Tenn., and was 52 years of age at the time of death. He was married several years ago to the widow of the late Reuben Kinder, who survives him, together with one brother who lives in Cincinnati, Ohio and a sister in Tenn.
Mr Collins was one of our most substantial citizens, and those who knew him speak in the highest terms of his many sterling qualities. While he had no children of his own he was deeply attached to Willie Kinder, his stepson, and the attachment was mutual, the young man mourning his loss almost as his own father. A kindly man, industrious, attending strictly to his own affairs, he held the unstinted respect to his neighbors and friends, and his loss is an irreparable one in the community in which he resided.
Conn, A.J.T.
A.J.T. Conn, 32, married, son of George W. & Margaret F. Conn, was shot on Mar 22, 1876.

Conn, Daisy Sowder
BEREA - Daisy Sowder Conn, 88, of Cartersville died Saturday at Berea Hospital. She was born in Garrard County, daughter of the late John and Hallie Green Sowder. She was a homemaker, retired merchant of Conn’s Grocery, and member of Level Greene Christian Church at Paint Lick. She was the widow of George Conn.
Survivors include a son, Marvin Conn of Paint Lick; a daughter, Margie Marie Causey of Paint Lick; two sisters, Ruth Green and Nelson Allen of Berea; a step-sister, Elsie Highland of Indianapolis, Ind.; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Lakes Funeral Home by the Rev. Dale Ballinger. Burial will be in Cartersville Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Danny Causey, Homer Long, Russell Anglin, Bobby Abney, Harold Day, Larry Causey and Gary Herren. Honorary pallbearers are Calvin Coy, Edd Turner, Tommy Proffitt, Lewis Abbott, Emery Day and Allen Day. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today.

Craig, Lou E.
Mrs. J. M. Craig, 42, wife of the Sheriff of Garrard County, died here this morning (March 25, 1928) following a brief illness. She was a member of the Christian Church here. Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Sallie and Mamie; and one son, Gillis. Burial in the local cemetery.
