Hening's Statutes at Large

 

A Little Background

In 1772, Fincastle County Virginia was organized from Botetourt County Virginia, which had extended to the Mississippi River.  The new county of Fincastle included all of present-day Kentucky.

31 December 1776, Kentucky County Virginia was formed from Fincastle County

May 1780, Kentucky County, Virginia was divided into Fayette, Jefferson and Lincoln Counties

In 1782, Kentucky was established as a judicial district

In 1792, Kentucky achieved statehood
