James Laffoon
State of Kentucky, Fayette County. On September 10th 1832, a resident of said county aged ____? states that he enlisted 1779 under Captain Sill? Walker, as a substitute for one James Thompson and served three months in Col John Glenn's regiment, under General Edward Stephens. He then substituted for Jerry Morgan under Captain Thomas Threadgill in the same army for three months at the end of that time, he was put under Captain Isaac Webb of the Virginia Line for several months say from 3 to 9. This was after the defeat of General _____? near Camden. He then went under Captain James Harrison under General Robert Lawson and remained in his company until the capture of Cornwallis. John P Wagnor was his Major at the siege of York. He was born and raised and enlisted in Lunenberg Co, Va. He belonged mainly to the station army until he went to the siege of York.
Affidavit of Simon Laffoon, of Fayette County do state that I am a younger brother of James Laffoon, and do know that he went on three or four different tours in the Revolutionary War, and served several months each tour.
He refers to Thomas Shelby, Charles Carr, General Thomas Bodley, Captain James Martin, John Young Walker and General George Boone, Amos Barker with whom he is well acquainted.
