STATE OF KENTUCKY TRIMBLE COUNTY. July 14-1845. The soldier then age 82. Being a resident of Spottsylvania County Virginia states that he was drafted into the service in the month of March 1780 for a term of eight months; that he was attached to a company and was mustered into service immediately and attached to the regiment of Col. Meriwether and that his place of residence was in Spottsylvania County; that when he was drafted to go to S.C. he was taken sick at Fredericksburg and was furloughed and as is above shown, that after his illness, he was again drafted 1781 in August. He was again drafted 1783, in April for 3 months as a private soldier under Captain Duly, and was drafted to go to Redstone, Old Ford and that he hired James Hall to go in his place and that he paid him a silver watch worth $30 and a guinea, states that he was born in Spottsylvania Co, Va, April 1763 and continued to reside there until 1799 when in the fall of that year I moved to Fayette County Kentucky and lived there one year, then moved to Franklin County Kentucky and lived there one year, then moved to Henry Co, Kentucky, now that part is known as Trimble Co, Ky, where I have lived ever since and still reside. His acquaintances were George Strother and Jack Pryor. The soldier sent in another application 1850 June 8th from Trimble County Kentucky at the age of 87. States that in October 1781, he was marched to attack Lord Cornwallis and the siege of Yorktown. Daniel S. Lane was a justice of the peace in Trimble County 1850. A certificate from the clerk of Trimble County states that Daniel S. Lane's commission as justice of peace was dated April 27-1843. Reuben Gatewood states that he has been intimately acquainted with the applicant James Faulconer for over 60 years, and was acquainted with him in Spottsylvania County Virginia and has known him ever since, and has always understood that he was in the Revolutionary War service. Also George Strother, and Archibald Bain state that they have always understood and believe him to be a Revolutionary War soldier. One R.N. Lane of Trimble Co, Ky at Bedford Ky seemed to be handling this claim 6-12-1850. Mrs. Catherine Faulkner applied for pension 1850 September 2nd and states that her husband was in the Company D, commanded by Captain A.W. Bartlett, in the service of the U.S. in Mexico (see if he received Mexican War pension) note.
A part of the papers have been prepared since July 8th but have been delaid in order to get the certificate of the Captain of the company which is now herewith enclosed.
P.S. Records of Henry Co, Ky show that this soldier and wife were married 1818 Dec 30 as follows: James Foulconer to Clary Howard, her grand father Johnson Bain gave consent for her to marry said James Foulconer.
