Cutright, Peter Pension Number S 32, 164 Virginia
This soldier applied for pension in Sangamon County Illinois December 22 1833, at the age of 74. He states that he was born in 1759 in Hampshire County Virginia and in 1785 removed to Fayette County Ky, into that part which afterwards became Bourbon County Kentucky. In 1788 removed to Montgomery County Kentucky where he resided until 1803, when he removed to Madison County Ohio, and in 1822 removed to Sangamon County Illinois and in 1831 removed to Putnam County Illinois, in 1832 returned to Sangamon County and about four weeks prior to making the application for pension removed to Macon County where he was residing.
On the first tour in the year 1780, September 1st enlisted in Hampshire County Virginia as a volunteer private in a company of militia commanded by Captain Daniel Retitian? and served six months. From Hampshire Co, Va was marched to Hillsboro N.C. where he joined Capt. Green. Their regimental officers were Col Robert Stevens and Major Geo. Stubblefield, - were discharged 1781 by Stubblefield. The witnesses who were acquainted with him were Aaron Vandever and Mr. Daniel Cutright of Sangamon Co, Ill.
