Daniel Cowgill
State of Ohio, Preble County, age 75, a resident of Preble Co, Ohio 12-30-1830 states that he enlisted in the revolution 1779 as a private soldier in Culpepper Co, Va, for two years in the Va line under Capt. Marke Thomas; that he served under Col George Slaughter, who was ordered to the Falls of the Ohio, where they arrived some time in the month of March 1780; that he served under General George Clark until some time on the fall of 1781 when he was honorable discharged and he had said discharge in his possession until about 1821, when he applied to the court in Hamilton Co, Ohio. States that he entered the service about 1777 in the Light Horse Company commanded by John Yoney. That he was born in Burlington, Co, N. Jersey, Oct 9-1755; that he has resided in Ohio 17 years and in Preble County over three years.
