September 24th 1832 before Thomas M Hickey circuit judge. A resident of Fayette Co, Ky, age 72, says he enlisted about three years before Cornwallis surrendered, enlisted under O P Davenport, as Captain of Col Porterfield commanding the state of Virginia garrison at old Williamsburg and served 3 years in said regiment, excluding a short time he was a prisoner, having been taken by the British while guarding the military stores at Woodson's mills on the south prong of James River about twenty miles from the point of forks of said river. Was discharged in July of the same year, that said Lord Cornwallis was surrendered. He was on the Glouster side under Major Bayless? He was living in Essex Co, Va when he enlisted and marched to old Willliamsburg. He obtained a discharge and sold it to Frank Graves of the same regiment to enable him to draw big land. Enlisted in 17__? For 3 years, as private under Capt. Davenport, Col Porterfield Essex Co, Va.
