Darrell Stevens, 82, of 1033 Claiborne Way, husband of Mary Elsee Stevens died
Friday February 28, 2003 at Mayfair Manor. Born February 6, 1921 in Irvine, KY,
he was the son of the late Hallye and Franklin Stevens. A graduate of Irvine
High School, he attended Eastern Kentucky University and was a WWII veteran,
serving for over three years in the Pacific Theater with the U.S. Army. He
retired in 1980 from the Lexington Army Depot after 35 years of service as a
maintenance management specialist. He was a former member of the Kentucky High
School Athletic Association as a central KY football official. He was a member
and former deacon of Woodland Christian Church. In addition to his wife, he is
survived by one son, William (Dee Dee) Darrell Stevens, Jr. of Louisville; two
daughters, Mary Beth (Harry) Clarke of Lexington, & Catherine Brand Stevens of
New York, NY; three grandsons, Matthew Franklin Clarke of Lexington, & Ryne
Allen & Drew Delaney Stevens of Louisville. Also surviving are two sisters,
Carolyn (Walter) Elsey of Lexington & Ann (Donald) Hardy of Irvine. He is also
survived by three newphews, one niece & several close cousins. Funeral Services
will be conducted 11:30a.m. Tuesday at W.R. Milward Mortuary-Southland by Dr.’s
David Blondell & William Kincaid. Friends may call from 6-9p.m. Monday.
