September 13, 2003 Journal News, Hamilton, Ohio Tracy Abney Tracy Abney, age 80, of Hamilton, passed away at Huntington Court, on Thursday, September 11, 2003, at 8:30 p.m. He was born in Irvine, Kentucky on May 10, 1923, the son of Pearl and Ellen (Brinegar) Abney. Tracy was a veteran of World War II with the United States Navy from 1945 to 1946. He was employed as a lineman for the City of Hamilton for 26 years, retiring in 1981. Tracy was a member of the IBEW Local 648; Stafford Masonic Lodge #562 in Fitchburg, Kentucky; Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati; Shriners and was a Kentucky Colonel. On January 16, 1952, in Irvine, Kentucky, he married Cecil Tipton who preceded him in death in 1992. He is survived by one son, Glynn Abney and his wife Brenda of Hamilton; one daughter, Carolyn Abney of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Michael Abney and his wife Stephanie, Ashley Abney and Chris Cornett; two sisters, Alice Henry and her husband Pete of Irvine, Kentucky and Ora Gillespie of Winchester, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Barbara Abney of Lexington, Kentucky; and Jack and his sons and their wives, Mark and Kim, and Chris and Kim, and both of their families. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and James Abney and one sister, Lula Dixon. Funeral service will be held at the Brown Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Avenue, on Monday, September 15, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Wallace Marshall of the West Chester Wesleyan Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a Scottish Rite Ring Service to be held at 4:30 p.m.
