Mr. and Mrs. Oakley McGee of South Irvine announce the arrival of a son born on June 5; they have named him Timothy Rice.

Estill County will celebrate its 150th anniversary soon.

The Gala Estill County 150th birthday party stands ready to burst forth into a joyous and hilarious week of celebration. Highlighting the Sesqui-Centennial will be the giant outdoor pageant depicting the past 150 years of progress in Estill County by means of a drama, music and the dance. Parades will light special days during the week.
Irvine's Mayor R. W. Smith Jr. received a telegram from President Eisenhower congratulating the county on its 150th anniversary.

One of the best parades ever held in Irvine took place Monday morning, honoring the county's 150th anniversary. Among historical items in the parade were a horse drawn hearse, horse drawn fire wagon, an old wagon with oil tank drawn by mules.

The marriage of Miss Lena Faye Powell daughter of Mrs. Clayborn Powell and the late Mr. Powell, to Bert Tracy Winkler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Winkler, was solemnized Tuesday night, Nov. 18, at the home of the Rev. Douglas Miller.
High winds cause damage; Gunfight results in death; Fire destroys 4 homes

The home of Mr. and Mrs. C. Ray Mullins on Broadway was destroyed by fire. Other homes destroyed by fire this week are those of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Tate, Robert and Iva Lee Winkle and June Warford.

High winds caused several hundred dollars damage at the Harry S. Cockrell home on Main Street.

The Citizens Committee for the hospital met March 24 to discuss means of opening and operating the Estill County Hospital by the county. Chairman of this committee is Mrs. Tracy West.

A gunfight in Ravenna resulted in the death of Police Chief William Page Mason, former Police Chief George Mays, Sr. also died.

Members of the 1939 graduating class of Irvine High held a reunion at Kiwani Park. Ralph McClanahan was master of ceremonies at the dinner meeting. Deaths include Mrs. Lena Miller, Hubert Horn, Carolyn Sue Jenkins, Joe McKinney and Mrs. Sarah Ann Kelly.
