Catherine (“Granny Tuttle”) was born Feb. 3, 1840, the daughter of Samuel and Rachel (Lowe) King–-all Estill County natives. She married William V. Tuttle in 1859. The mother of 10 boys and 1 invalid girl, Catherine also raised 5 of her grandchildren. She died May 12, 1939, at the age of 99.
