The Guardian Col Wm Benton puts in a claim of forty one dollars for expenses & for
going to Mississippi Amite County at the request of the widow of Hardin D. Moore &
some of her children & proves by W.G. Mize that he saw several letters purporting to
be from said widow about the year 1846 & from some of the children of said
H.D. Moore
requesting said Benton to come to said State and County & bring them to the State of
KY. , that he loaned said Benton a part of of the money say about $20.00 for the purpose
of defraying his expenses that Benton started to Mississippi and was gone some time. I am
satisfied that said Benton went to Miss, but am of the opinion that I cannot &
have not the power to aportion the fund and on account of the statute of limitations, to
which opinion & action of said Court In rejecting said claim Benton
excepts. All of which is reported.
