Rev. Pension - McQueen, John - Legal CaseA huge thanks to Mary Floy Katzman! Without you, John would still only be dates and places.
John McQueen was my 5th g-grandfather and the first ancestor on my mother's side to break the "1800" barrier. In researching this man, I've gained insight into the "everyday" man of the mid 1700's to mid 1800's. You see, John lived an amazingly long time, being born 22 Aug 1761 in then Orange County, VA, and dying on 14 Feb 1855 in Estill County KY at the age of 93 years, 5 months and 8 days. No illustration is known of the man. His final resting place is known only to those who have gone before, but he left a final legacy that is ours to treasure. John and his wife, Polly, raised 13 children in the harsh, unsettled area of Eastern Kentucky, being found in various counties, both due to moving and the ever-changing county lines.
