Let me tell you a tell about me, my maiden name was King. I have been researching my family for more than 25 years. I still stuck where I began all those years ago. On William S. King born 1832 in Estill County KY, married 1855 to Sarah Bradley in Clarke Co KY. Sadly I have never been able to find 18 year old William in any census in 1850. I have a death certificate that says father Steve King and mother Mary Lilly, (death certificate can have errors). I have researched both Jacob and Jeremiah families also from Estill county looking for a connection. There is no paper trail for my William before 1850. I do believe that he had a brother Stephen Francis King born 1827 that married Elizabeth Potts, family legend says that there was a brother James. Find my work athttp://www.geocities.com/kellyparks99/king.html
Then came Y-DNA, you can find about by testing male with the same surname if they are closely related. Thomas King who has line to Jeremiah did one, I got my father to do a Y-DNA. We do not match (12 marker test, with only a 9 marker match), so I am not closely related to Jeremiah King's line. That leaves Jacob line to be test. I need to find a descendant with King surname that is willing to be tested. This will also prove wither Jeremiah and Jacob lines are connected and whither my line is connected to either of them. Also in works is a test submitted byAleita King Huguenin's brother ( Jeremiah's line again)
