Born September 5, 1885, in Estill County to Wm. Nathan and Sarah Ellen (Witt) Gould, Clarence Gould studied medicine in Louisville and served in WW I. To practice medicine, he moved to Grayson County, Texas, where his paternal grandparents, Newton and Almira (Burt) Gould had moved earlier from Estill County.
