Obiturary of William R. Guess

Crittenden Press May 11, 1881

Another veteran has fallen.

Deacon W. R. Guess died at his home in Weston,
April 24, 1881, in the 61st year of his age.
Brother Guess was a faithful member of the
United Baptist Church, during a peroid of nearly four years.
He was in the organization of Camp Creek Church, Oct. 25, 185?,
was ordained deacon of the same church in 1852 by Elders Hale,
Tudor and McChesney. He was truly a man of God, ever willing
to do all he could for the salvation of sinners and the upbuilding
of the church. He has now been called from his labor to his reward
above, leaving an aged companion and five children, many brethren
and sisters in the Lord to mourn his loss. Dear children, remember
the many, earnest prayers offered up by that father in your behalf,
and prepare to meet him in that better world.
Servant of God, well done..
