These are abstracts I made from the microfilmed Fauquier County, VA Deed Books and from photocopies made by the Court Clerk. I'm not very good at reading old handwriting so there are probably errors. I would urge you to consult the originals and NOT use my abstracts for anything more than a pointer to the source records. You may find a few scattered notes to myself here also.

Deed Book 9, p. 108, 8 Dec 1785. Abraham Cox and Elizabeth of Fauquier to James Cowles of Prince William for five shillings 150 acres of land in Prince Williams and Fauquier viz Beginning at three red oaks corner to said Cox, thence N15W163 poles to a red oak spanish oak and two white oaks in the old line which divided the said land and the land of John McCoy thence N78.5E 156 poles to two box oaks and one spanish oak standing on the top of a hill in the line of Benjamin Harrison, thence with the said lin e S26.5E 110 poles to two chestnut oaks on a gravelly hill thence S30W 45 poles to three black jack oaks standing on the east side of a branch, thence S80W 139 poles to the beginning... Thomas James Bullitt of Talbot Co., MD leases to Levin Oliver of Fauquier "..during the natural lives of said Levin Oliver and Elizabeth his wife and the natural life of the longest liver of them." a tract of land 126 a cres "..which said land belonged to Cuthbert Bullitt Esquire lately deceased under whom the said Thomas James Bullitt now claims .... and is distinguished and shown on a plat and certificate of the said land made and executed by a certain Samuel Byrne in August 1792 by number nineteen and is bounded, abutted and described according to said plat and certificate.....and said plat and certificate are to be forthwith filed for safe custody among the records of Fauquier County Court..." "..during the natural live s of said Josiah Oliver and Cornelius Oliver, son of said Levin and the natural life of the longest liver of them." a tract of land 121 acres "..which said land belonged to Cuthbert Bullitt Esquire lately deceased under whom the said Thomas James Bullitt now claims .... and is distinguished and shown on a plat and certificate of the said land made and executed by a certain Samuel Byrne in August 1792 by number seventeen and is bounded, abutted and described according to said plat and certificate.....and s aid plat and certificate are to be forthwith filed for safe custody among the records of Fauquier County Court..." Deed Book 14, p. 224. 16 Oct. 1795. Hezekiah Oliver and Rebecca his wife and Kenaz Ralls of Fauquier to John James of Fauquier for 50L VA currancy a tract of land in Stafford and Fauquier containing 25 acres and bounded as follows: Beginning at A a black oak corner to the dividing line between Cooper and Oliver on the Aquia Road and near Coopers fence thence with the said line S4W50 poles to B a double spanish oak in said line thence leaving said line south S87E82 1/2 poles to C a small gum N4E41 poles to D a small spanish oak on the said Aquia road thence along the road N70W30 poles N87W56 poles to the Beginning. Peter Pitcher, John Foster, Levin "O" Oliver his mark October 16th 1795 /S/ Hezekiah "H" Oliver his mark, Rebecca X Oliver her mark, Kenaz Ralls Received of John James full satisfaction for the within consideration. Kenaz Ralls. Since Rebecca Oliver could not conveniently travel to the Court, John James, Joseph Blackwell and Samuel Blackwell appointed to go to her for waiver of right title and interest. Deed Book 15, p.486. 2 April 1803. Alexander Scott and Elizabeth his wife of Charles Co., MD leases to Hezekiah Oliver a tract in Fauquier now in the tenure occupation and possession of the said Hezekiah and adjoining the tenement and parcel of land held by Josias Oliver, and one other tract of land ... whereon the late Mrs. Elizabeth Blackwell dwelt and resided and which she held as partof her dower. To have and to hold the two said tracts...Hezekiah Oliver ..during the natural lives of Thomas Oliver, Ja ne Oliver and Sarah Oliver or the survivors of them.... /S/ Alec Scott, Elizabeth Scott

Deed Book 15, p.488. 2 April 1803. Alexander Scott and Elizabeth his wife of Charles Co., MD leases to Josias Oliver a tract in Fauquier now held, possessed and occupied by the said Josias. To have and to hold the said tract...Josias Oliver ..during the n atural lives of Joel Oliver, Josias Oliver Jr. and Sarah Oliver or the survivors of them.... /S/ Alec Scott, Elizabeth Scott

Will Book 4, p. 55. 22 Dec. 1804. Fauquier County. Agreeable to an order of the Honorable Court of August last appointing us James Cowles and Hezekiah McCoy to divide the land between Mary Wynn and Elizabeth Cox bequeathed them by the will of Abraham Cox deceased, we have proceeded to execute the same by a line, to begin at a white oak corner on the side of a branch adjoining lands belonging to Stephen French runing thence a cross the branch N56E 140 poles and twenty three links or twenty eight twenty fif ths of a pole to a small box oak on the line dividing the said land from lands belonging to John Bredwell. Elizabeth Cox, widow of Thomas Cox, dec'd, James Cox and Sarah his wife, William Oliver and Nancy his wife, Catharine Cox, all of Fauquier Co., VA, Robin Garrott and Verlinda his wife and Thomas R. Smith and Mary his wi fe, of Prince William Co., VA to Thomas Wynn of Fauquier for $200 a tract of land in Fauquier viz Beginning at a white oak corner on the west side of Goose Run, running thence N 63 W 112 poles to a white oak on the side of a large pond. Thence N 76 E 232 poles by land belonging to Orear to a box and red oak . Thence S 3 W by land belonging to John Bredwell to a box oak corner. Thence from said box oak corner S 56 W 140 poles and 23 links to the beginning corner white oak on the west side of Goose Run. The said land bequeathed to said Elizabeth Cox and her children by Abraham Cox deceased. Wit. Josias Oliver of Fauquier Co., VA leases to John Eskridge of same land in Fauquier bounded: Beginning at the corner of the fence where it now stands, adjoining the line of Thomas Oliver's lease and running with the said fence which divides the plantation of the said Josias Oliver and Francis Young , to where it intersects Handcock Eustice's line near a spring, thence binding on Eustace's and Crump's lines to the line of Thomas Oliver's lease, and with Thomas Oliver's li ne to the beginning.... for and during the term of tenure contained in the original lease from Alexander Scott and Elizabeth his wife of Charles Co., MD to Hezekiah Oliver and ...assigned to Joseph Shumate and Rodham Tully jun'r and from them assigned to the said Josias Oliver. /S/ Josias Oliver /E/ 24 Oct 1815.

Fauquier Co. Deedbook 38, p. 264. 6 Oct 1838. Sarah Strother of Frederick Co., VA to Thomas ORear for $30 all her right, title and and interest in land left to Zachariah and Ann Cox by their father Abraham Cox. Zachariah and Ann having died with out heirs , said land then went to heirs of William Cox, Thomas Cox and Mary Winn of whom Sarah Strother is one. Wit. Hayward Colvin Jno. H.
