Both of his parents were born in Caldwell County, Ky.
He enlisted as a Private in Co. I, 17th Ky. Cavalry U.S. at Owensboro, Kentucky on September 7, 1864.
He worked as a farmer.
Regimental records described him as 5'8" tall, black hair, dark complexion and blue eyes.
He was discharged at Louisville, Kentucky on September 20, 1865.
He married Martha Drennon on November 27, 1865. C. S. Drennon was surety for the marriage .
It was the first marriage for them both
Martha was born about 1844 in Crittenden County, Kentucky.
Both of her parents were born in Kentucky.
Finis was a farmer

James R. B. Cole   was born in Crittenden County, Kentucky on October 19, 1839.
He enlisted and was mustered in to Co. D, 20th Ky. Infantry U.S. at Louisville, Kentucky on January 1, 1863
He was promoted to Corporal.
He was a member of the Caldwell County Militia in 1872 and 1873
He married Mary "Mollie" D. Parr on December 1, 1867
She was born September 24, 1844, the daughter of Housen Parr.
Mary and her parents were born in Kentucky.
James died on December 11, 1908 and is buried in the Livingston Cemetery in Caldwell County, Ky.
In 1910, Mary aged 65, was listed as having give birth to 5 children, 3 survive.
Mary died December 21, 1934 and is buried beside her husband.

Newton M. Dollar was born on November 13, 1842 in Crittenden County, Kentucky, the son of Wilson and Ella Green Dollar.
Wilson was born in Kentucky and Ella was born in Virginia.
Newton enlisted on June 15, 1863, at Marion, Kentucky, in Co. B, 48th Ky. Mounted Infantry.
He was musterd in on October 26, 1863 for one year at Princeton, Ky.
He served as a Corporal
He was present for all muster rolls
He mustered out at Bowling Green, Kentucky on December 18, 1864.
He married Marian Josephine ? in 1870.
She was born 1843 in Kentucky and her parents were born in Kentucky.
Newton and Marion lived in the Mill Bluff area where he operated a mill on the creek where he ground corn and wheat for the farmers.
They later built their home on the corner of Cassidy Avenue and Shelby Street in Fredonia, Ky.
In the 1910 census, Newton is listed as a house carpenter.
Marion stated that she had given birth to 5 children with three still alive.
Newton died on March 9, 1925 and was buried in the Dollar Cemetery on the Prowell farm on highway 903 outside Fredonia.
Marion died in 1935 and is buried beside her husband.
