with such information as is furnished by the records of this Office
Private Robert Stivers Co. E. 3 rd Regiment Ky Vol. is reported to this
office by Surgeon M K. Taylor as
having died Feb. 10, 1863 at Genl. Hosp. Keokuk, Iowa
of Paralysis

STATEMENT OF BEVERLY WHITE
STATE OF kENTUCKY COUNTY OF CLAY
On this the 10th day of November 1866 personally appeared before me
W.L.White Clerk of the County Court A Court of record
Written and for the county and State Aforesaid
Beverely P. White who after being duly sworn States that Robert Stivers a
Private
of commpany E 7th Regiment Kentucky Infantry Vol. was a sound and healthy
able bodied man when he was enlisted with the service of the United States
on the 19th day of August 1861 In December 1862 Said Stivers were taken sick
at Memphis, Tenn. While there with his Regiment in the line of his duty and
left in hospital at Memphis and sent from there to Keokuk,Iowa Where he died
in hospital on the 10th of February 1863 of Parlpligia and sofening of the
Spinal cord. He states that his knowledge of the above facts was obtained
from the following sources. I was 1st Lt. of said company the 3rd of June
1863 at which time i was promoted Captain of said Comapny and was personally
acquainted with said Stivers both before and after he entered the service .
The date and cause of deathbeing reported to me by the Surgeon of the Hospital
Keokuk, Iowa That I am not interested in Zilphia Stivers Claim for pension
nor concern in its prosecution.

This is to certify that on the l8th day of September 1852 the tides of
Matromy was legally colonized by me in Clay County Kentucky between
Robert C. Stivers and Zylphy Benge at the Residence of William Benge and in
the presence of Jarvis Jones and Elisha Stivers as witnesses

certificate as being those taken from the files in Clay Co Ky and to be
true documents.

SUMMATION OF PENSION APPLICATION 1
13th day of August 1864 state of Kentucky county of Clay
appeared before me clerk of county court.
Zilpha Stivers a resident of Clay County Kentucky age 28 having been duly
sworn ,according to law,doth on her oath make the following declaration.
in order to obtain the benefts of the provision made by the act of Congress
approved July 14,1862. That she is the widow of Robert Stivers who was a
private in Company E commanded by Capt. E. W. Murphy in the 3rd now 7th regiment
of Kentucky Infantry Vol. commanded by Col T. T. Garrard in the war of 1861
and who died whilst in the service aforesaidat Keokuk in the State of Iowa
on or about the 10 th day of February 1863 from paralizys of the lower
extremeties and disease of the spine incurred in the service aforesaid and
whilst in the line of his duty. She further declares that she was married
to the said Robert Stivers on the 8th day of September in the year 1852 that
her husband the aforesaid Robert Stivers died on the day above mentioned.
and that she has remained a widow ever since that period.
She also declares that she has not in any manner been engaged in or aided or
abetted the rebellion in the Unites States. She appoints Js M Dickinson of
Manchester Clay County,Ky her attorney with full power of substitutions and
revocation in her said behalf and authorizes him to receive the Pension Certifate
when issued. Her Post Office is at Manchester in the County of Clay in the
state of Kentucky. That her domicil or place of abode is on the waters of
Rockcastle about 11 miles from Manchester,Ky That the following and the names
of her children issue of her said marriage to wit:
Mary Stivers born 16th May 1854, Daniel Stivers born 12th of May 1856,
Wm. Stivers born 1st of January 1858, George Stivers born July 12th 1860,
Loucinda Stivers born 7th February 1862.
Zilpha Stivers made her markX Witness by William K. Allen and George Mahan
Sworn to subscribed and acknowledged befor me the day and year first above
written and also personally appeared Thomas Cook and Robert P. Young residents
of the County of Clay in the State of Kentucky persons whom i certify to be
respectable and entitled to credit, and who being by me duly sworn, say that
they were present and saw Mrs Zilpha Stivers to the forgoing declaration,
and they further swear that they have eveery reason to believe, from the
appearance of the applicant and their acquaintance with her, that she is the
identical person she represents herself to be .

was a private in Co E 7th Ky Vols
Personally came before me Mrs Lucinda Johnson and Mrs Polly Benge citizens of
the county of Clay State of Kentucky reputable and entitled to credit,and who,
being duly sworn,declare as follows :
Mary Stivers daughter and child of Robert Stivers dec's and his wife Zylphin
Stivers was born on the 16th day of May 1855, Kaniel Stivers son and child of
Robert Stivers dec's and his wife Zylphin Stivers was born on the 12th day of
May 1857. William Stivers son and child of Robert Stivers dec's and his wife
Zylphin Stivers was born on the 1st day of January 1859, George Stivers a son
and child of Robert Stivers dec;s and his wife Zylphin Stivers was born on the
11th day of July 1860
Winess States She was present when the above named children were born but did
not act as midwife in either case also states that the midwife in attendance
at that time is now dead.

Personally came before me Mrs Delphy Benge citizen of the County of Clay
State of Kentucky reputable and enlitten to credit and who being duly sworn
declare in relation to aforesaid claim as following Lucinda Stivers daughter
and child of Robert Stivers dec's who was a private of Company E 7th Reg
Kentucky Vol Inf and wife Zylphia Stivers was born on the 24th day of February
1862. Witness states that she acted as midwife in this case . She further
declares that she has no interest in said claim

by me duly sworn states that if there is any discrepency in the birth of
children it was made by person who made her applications. That the following
be true and documented by the dates of childs birth being recorded in a book
and kept by her husband.
Mary Stivers was born May 16th 1855
Daniel Stivers was born May 12th 1857
William Stivers was born January 1st 1859
George Stivers was born July 10th 1860
Loucinda Stivers was born Feb. 24th 1862
She states that this is the correct date of the children and swears they are
the children of her husband Robert Stivers dec's.
