It is hereby certified that in conformity with the laws of the United States ,
Granville Hacker, who was a private, Co. E 7th Regiment Kentucky Volunteer
Infantry is entitled to a pension at the rate of four dollars per month, to commence
on the fourteenth day of June one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four. This
pension being for "Incomplete inguinal hernia of right side."

Given at the Department of the Interior this twenty seventh day of December one
thousand eight hundred and eighty nine and of the Independence of the United States
of America the one hundred and fourteenth.

Sir:

I have the honor to request that you will furnish from the records of the War
Department a full report as to the services, disability and hospital treatment of
Granville hacker, who it is claimed, enlisted Sept, 1861, and served as Private in
Co. E, 7th Regt. Ky. Inf. Vols; and was discharged at Louisville, Ky. Oct. 5, 1864

While serving in Co. E, 7th Regt. Ky. Inf. he was disabled by shell wound of
hip - causing rupture , also chronic diarrhea and was treated in hospitals of which
names, locations, and dates of treatment are as follows: on a "kind of boat" near Vicksburg.

Granville Hacker, a private of Company "E" 7th Regiment Ky. Inf. Volunteers,
was enrolled on the 19th day of Aug. 1861, at Clay Co. Ky. for 3 years and is
reported: on muster in roll dated Sept. 22nd, 1861. present. On muster rolls to
Dec. 31/61. presence or absence not shown. Roll to April 30th, 1862 (4 mo. muster).
present; same to Aug. 31/62. Sept. and Oct. 1862 presence or absence not shown.
Nov. and Dec. 1862, present, and so reported to Aug. 31st, 1864. Mustered out with
Co. as private at Louisville, Ky. Oct. 5th, 1864. Return for Oct. 1861 does not report
him absent. Nov. 1861 absent in Clay Co. with the mumps. Dec. 1861 & Jany. and
Feb. 1862 do not report him absent. Oct. 1862 does not report him absent.
Regimental list of casualties reports him wounded severely in left hip
May 22/63: place not stated.

PROOF OF DISABILITY

State of Kentucky, County of Clay, SS.

On this 6th day of August A.D. 1886, personally appeared before me a County Court
Clerk in and for the said county, duly authorized to administer oaths George (Grasur?)
aged 51 years, whose post office address is Manchester, Clay County, Ky. who being duly
sworn according to law, states that he was acquainted with Granville Hacker, applicant for
Invalid Pension; and knows the said Hacker to be the identical person of that name who
enlisted or volunteered as a private in Company E 7th Regiment of Kentucky Inft Vols,
and who discharged at Louisville, Ky. on or about the 5th day of October, 1864, by reason
of Expiration of term of Service.

That the said Granville Hacker while in line of duty at or near Vicksburg in the State
of Mississippi did, on or about the 22 day of May, 1863, became disabled in the following
manner, viz: in the right side and right hip with a peace of a shell and was rupture in the rite side.

I was with the comand at the time said Hacker was wounded.

That the facts stated are personally known to me by reason of being and eye witness
of them as above state. I never was much acquainted with said applicant until he
volunteered in our company & Regt. I was sergant of our company and was with the
comand at the time he, said Hacker was wounded ruptured.

Fourth. Were you previously married? If so, please state the name of your former
wife and the date and place of her death or divorce.

Answer. yes - Sally Hunt, about 1845 - Annie Nantz, 1862 - Ellen Chandler, 186?.

Fifth. Have you any children living? If so, please state their names and the dates of their birth.

Answer. Levi, 1842 - Julius, 1858 - several others in different parts of country,
their living is not known to me. - Sam nearly 15 years old - Cora nearly 13 years old
- Rachel nearly 10 years old.

DECLARATION FOR PENSION

State of Kentucky, County of Clay, SS.

On this 11 day of July A.D. one thousand nine hundred and seven, personally
appeared before me, a County court clerk within and for the county and State
aforesaid, Granville Hacker, who, being duly sworn according to law, declares
that he is 83 years of age and a resident of Erline, Clay Co. Ky.; and that he is the
identical person who was enrolled at Camp Dick Robinson under the name of
Granville Hacker, on the ___ day of Aug. 1861 as a private, in Co. E, 7th, reg,
Vol. INF, in the service of the United States, in the ______ war, and was honorably
discharged at Louisville, Ky. on the 5th day of October, 1864. That he also served _____.

That he was not employed in the military or naval service of the United States
otherwise than as stated above. That his personal description at enlistment was
as follows, Height, 5 feet 10 inches; complexion _____, color of eyes_____ color of
hair_____, that his occupation was farming; that he was born, don't remember
definitely at , in Clay County, Ky.

That his several places of residence since leaving the service have been as follows:
In Clay County, Kentucky all of my life.

That he is a pensioner. That he has heretofore applied for pension - Pension Certificate #459,894

That he makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the pension roll of
the United States under the provisions of the act of February 6, 1907.

That his post office address is Erline, County of Clay, State of Kentucky.

himself to be, and that they have no interest in the prosecution of this claim.

On this 11th day of Mch, A.D. 1908 personally appeared before me a Notary Public
in and for the County and State aforesaid, Vina Hacker, aged 69 years, who, being by
me duly sworn according to law, makes the following declaration in order to obtain the
pension provided by Acts of Congress granting pensions to widows: That she is the
widow of Granville Hacker who served under the name of Granville Hacker in Co. E,
7th Ky. Vol. Infty. in the war of 1861, who was pensioned under act of Feb. 6th, 1907
and that he died on the 19th day of Feb, A.D. 1908, who bore at the time of his death the
rank of ____,; that she was married under the name of Vina Hoskins on the ____ day of
July, A.D. 1870, by Josiah Combs, JPPCo near Hazard, Ky., there being no legal barrier
to such marriage; that neither she nor her husband had been previously married - Soldier
had been married three times dates of former spouses unknown.

That she hereby appoints, with full power of substitution and revocation, Lee Combs of
Oneida, Ky. her attorney to prosecute the above claim; that her residence is in Oneida,

aged 53 years, a resident of Oneida, County of Clay, State of Ky. well known by me to be
reputable and entitled to credit, and who, being duly sworn, declares, in relation to the
aforesaid case as follows: That he was acquainted with Granville Hacker, during his life
time and that he died near Oneida, Ky. on or about 19th Feb. 1908.
