I have info following the Stephens family back to England in 1720 including marriages, children ect.
I also have many original family docs and letters dating to 1836. My family has donated other documents and letters to the Filson Club in Louisville, KY. The Stephens families were gun and boat makers from England and arrived in Butler County in 1854. In 1969 a historical marker was erected in Reedyville by the Butler County Historical Society to honor of the Stephens family business although they were making guns for the Confederacy. My grandfather, Stephens, is in possession of one of the rifles made and stamped circa 1855-1861 by William Stephens.

Ancestors of Mathira Childress of Butler and Warren Counties
are said to have been part Cherokee Indian from NC and, possibly TN
