DR. HAMILTON B. TURNER, Butler County, was born December 1, 1821, in the south part of this county, where he has always resided. His father, Thomas Turner, was born near Harper's Ferry, Va., November 16, 1794. He was left an orphan in early life; was a soldier in the war of 1812, and was stationed in Baltimore; he removed to Zanesville, Ohio, in 1816, and two years later to Butler County. He labored 200 days for a young mare of common scrub stock; he leased and rented land for twelve years, at the end of which time, after a hard struggle, he purchased 256 acres of land, the same land he had improved, and where he died January 30, 1884. He was the son of William Turner, a native of Virginia, who started to Kentucky in 1796, and was supposed to have been murdered by the Indians, as he was never after heard of.
