Jane Kitchen Duff, wife of Tom Duff and mother of Catherine and Todd, died Thursday, November 29, 2007, after a short illness. She was 89.

Raised in Ashland, Ky., Mrs. Duff had made her home on Lookout Mountain for the past 60 years. In her day, she was charitable and historical ventures, including the presidency of the Hugenot Society of
Tennessee and the Little Miss Mag Day Child Care Center. She was also a member of the Junior League of Chattanooga, the Garden Club of Lookout Mountain, the Colonial Dames and the Nancy Ward Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a longtime member of the Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Duff was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine Crowell and John Walter Kitchen; two sisters, Mrs. Richard Van Zant and Mrs. Richard L. Moore, and her son-in-law, David S. Lattimore Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas O. Duff Jr., Lookout Mountain; daughter, Catherine D. Lattimore,
Newnan, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas O. "Todd" and Martha Duff III; grandchildren, Cakki L. and James Namorato, Richmond, Va., Mary Duff and Michael Rayneri, Greenville, S.C., Thomas O. "Tommy" Duff IV, Signal Mountain; two great-grandchildren, David James Namorato, Richmond, and Emily Rayneri, Greenville, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. Pastor Joseph Novenson, Ben Haden and Monsignor Leo Herbert will officiate.

The will be a private burial for the family.

The family requests that instead of families, contributions be made to the University of Chattanooga Foundation for the Jane K. and T.O. Duff Jr. Scholarship Fund, 615 McCallie Ave., 37403, or the Little Miss Mag Day Child Care building fund, 214 Walnut St., 37403.
