Note from Wm Henry Griffith's obiturary: Mr. Griffith's grandfather, Wm. Griffith, resided on the Brandywine River and his home was Gen. Washington's headquarters during the revolutionary war, and four of his brothers lost their lives on the battlefield for the independence of their country while another brother was so maimed in that sanguinary conflict that he never regained his manly vigor.

Other sources reveal John as second son, born 1803, but do not name an Augustus, so may be John Augustus. Valentine also bought land in Dearborn Co, IN, near or in Aurora. I seek parents (lineage)of Valentine. My ancestor is Alice (Alcey)McGlasson. I have been in touch with the various Barton lists, but cannot connect. Really want to find a male named Barton who descends from Valentine or one of his sons, since the Bartons have a DNA project going. Willing to help with the cost.

I have been told that Henry was a Constable and was killed as he was entering the Boone County Courthouse to conduct business as the Court House was being repaired and a Broad Axe fell and hit him with such force that it killed him instantly. I have been searching everywhere for the source for this information but have not been able to find it. I am also searching for any Probate papers which might exist. I know that several of Henry and Sarah's children remained in Boone County. My branch moved to Tazewell CO. Illinois. I think Sarah remained in Boone County Ky and died in 1851.
