Passing of Glasgow Native in California
Robert Anderson WOOTEN (Sr.), an accountant and businessman in Santa Maria, California, since 1946, known to his friends as Bob, died Saturday morning, January 9, 1999, at his home in Pismo Beach, California. Born in Glasgow, Barren County, Kentucky, on September 4, 1913, son of Eugene Anderson and Mary Bell (FOSTER) WOOTEN, Bob attended Glasgow schools, served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and W.P.A. during the Depression, and also served as an officer in the U.S.Marines in the Pacific Theater during World War II. After the war, Bob married Louise TIMMONS (deceased November 1964) in Tucson, Arizona, in February of 1945, then moved to Santa Maria and opened an accounting practice which he ran until November, 1998. He was a founder of the American Legion Post in Santa Maria, an actively contributing member of the Elks Club, and also a member of the California Society of Public Accountants. In 1962 he was rewarded for service to the Commonwealth of Kentucky with a Commission in the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. In May of 1967 Bob married Jean CODAY, who has been his loving partner for the last thirty-two years and deeply mourns his passing.
Mourning also are his children: Anthony F. (Tony) WOOTEN of Fitchburg, Wisconsin; Robert A.
(Andy) WOOTEN (Jr.) of Glendale, California, and Judith Marie (Judy)WOOTEN of Los Osos, California, their spouses and five grandchildren. Bob is also survived by his brother, Ollie James WOOTEN of Scottsville, and by two sisters, Clotine LEE and Fay SCACCIA, both of Louisville. |
