Had lived 166 days on an implanted replacement heart; died of multiple organ failure. He had received
the AbioCor artificial heart in a May 24 surgery. He was the 14th recipient of the soft-ball-sized pump
which is made of plastic and titanium and powered by batteries. He was the only AbioCor patient still
living with the device.

and B. R. Retreads in Glasgow. US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, member Peters Creek Baptist
Church.
