US Air Force veteran of WW II, graduated from Electonics, Radio and TV Institute during service 1943, degree in communications. Later served with the Glasgow Police Department and was instrumental in setting up the city's first radio communications system. Later joined the Kentucky State Police and served as a Trooper from 1953 until retirement in 1979. While with the State Police, he graduated from training programs at several universities including Northwestern University, University of North Carolina, Clemson University and the University of IL. Member Glasgow Baptist Church.

Sons: Mark and wife Rita of Glasgow and Scott of Nashville, TN
Sisters: Zelma Underwood and Betty Underwood, both of Glasgow
Grandchildren: Craig Buchanan of Glasgow; Michael Buchanan and wife Rochelle of Orlando, FL and Danielle U. Stewart and Chad Underwood of Glasgow.
Great-grandchildren: Brittany and Haley Paige Stewart of Glasgow and Swaan, Savannah and Micaaela Buchanan of Orland, FL.
