Ben Smoot

"Mr. Ben Smoot died at his home on South Fork, last Thursday at the age of 73 years, after a lingering illness of a complication of diseases. He is survived by one daughter, Miss Vera Smoot. He also leaves three brothers and three sisters, Messrs. George and Jim Smoot, the well known merchants of Glasgow and Wilson Smoot of Madison, Ind., Mrs. John A. Winn of Pageville, Mrs. John A. Dodd of Haywood and Mrs. Will Duvall of Glasgow. Mr. Smoot was born and reared in Barren County where he spent his entire life. He was a member of the Baptist church and stood high as an excellent citizen. The burial was in the Glasgow cemetery, after funeral services
conducted by Rev. Walter Church, pastor of the South Fork Church, of which the deceased was a member."
