Retired educator after 42 years in the field of education as both coach and administrator. First football coach at Tompkisnville High School from 1943 to1946; a guiding influence in the creation of the Caverna Independent School System where he served as superintendent from 1949 to 1956. Served in the Barren County School System as coach at Park City High School and principal at Austin-Tracy High School for 13 years; served as principal at Hart County High School for three years and retired in1972. Avid golfer and fisherman.

Daughter: Linda Sidwell Thompson of Frankfort KY
Grandchildren: Tommy Sidwell of Franklin TN, Cole Evans of Versailles KY, Chris Pirtle and Kim Pirtle Whalen, both of Bowling Green KY
Nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews
