"MR. TOM K. RUTLEDGE DEAD.

"Mr. Tom K. Rutledge died at his home in the edge of town Monday evening of acute tonsilitis. His death was entirely unexpected, as he had been ill hardly a week. He was in his seventy-ninth year, and was as quiet, retiring, excellent gentleman and citizen, and was a Confederate soldier. He was twice married, his second wife surviving him. He is also survived by five children - Mr. Nathan Rutledge, of this place; Mr. Crit Rutledge, of Louisville; Mr. A. G. Rutledge, of Excelsior Springs, Mo; Mr. ___ Rutledge of Slick Rock, and Ms. Luther Nabors, of Burnside, Ky. Mr. Rutledge was a devout member of the Baptist church. He was for many years, a resident of Lucas, but moved here a year or so ago, and has since made his home here.

The interment was in the family burying ground on the Virgil Deweese farm, near Slick Rock, Wednesday evening, after funeral services conducted by Rev. Mr. Johnson. Six of Mr. Rutledge's old comrades-in-arms attended the obsiqiues."

Unknown Glasgow KY newspaper, from files of the late Birdie Lutzow.
