"THE DEATH OF LITTLE EDITH EMILY RUTLEDGE - AGED TEN.

The funeral of little Edith Emily Rutledge was conducted at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rutledge, on Cleveland Ave., Sunday afternoon, at three o'clock, by her pastor, Rev. J. D. Gillespie, assisted by Dr. Piercy, who made the opening prayer, and by Dr. S. F. Gordon who made most appropriate and comforting remarks and the closing prayer.

Roy Gillespie told of Edith's christian life. Although not quite ten years of age, she had been a member of the church for one year; he told how her life had been in accord with her profession, which she made of her own accord. He told how her Sunday school teacher spoke of her unusual intelligence and her preparation of her lessons. She always remained for preaching service and gave reverent attention. A quartette from the Presbyterian church rendered beautifully two of Edith's favorite hymns.

It is seldom a community is more shocked than when word was sent out on Saturday that little Edith was dead. She was ill only a few hours. Although everything was done for her that medical skill could provide, she was not for us, that God took her.

In her one year in the Glasgow school not a mark was made against her deportment, and her scholarship was of the best. But with it all, she was full of fun and life. It has only been a few days since she took part in one of the piano recitals given by Mrs. Boles' pupils.

The numerous floral offerings and the large attendance at the funeral attest the esteem in which this sweet chld and her worthy parents are held in this community. The little body was laid to rest in the beautiful Glasgow cemetery."
