"MRS. DUDLEY READ. Mrs. Ellen Read died at the home of her husband, Mr. Dudley Read, on Columbia avenue, last Wednesday morning, in her seventy-sixth year.
"Before her mariage, she was Miss Ellen Holtsclaw, of Taylorsville, and was a relative of the late Pres. McKinley.
"Mrs. Read was a woman of unusual intellect and was a splendid character, possessing the many noble traits of a devoted mother, a faithful wife and a consecrated Christian. She was a life-long member of the Presbyterian church.
"Her husband and five children survive her: Messrss. Blan, Charlie, Ab, Enoch and Eugene Read, all engaged in the butcher business in Glasgow.
"Rev. A. A. Higgins, of Louisville,conducted the funeral services at the home last Thursday afternoon at two o'clock, after which the remains were interred in the cemetery at this place."
