"Arthur Polson Victim of Lightning.

"Mr. Arthur Polson, 56-year old farmer, was killed instantly late Friday afternoon at his farm two miles east of Slick Rock when the barn he was in was struck by lightning. Miss Eula Polson, his 30-year old daughter, was slightly dazed and one horse was killed by the bolt.

"Mr. Polson was in the loft feeding his stock when the bolt struck and set fire to his clothing and hay in the loft. Miss Polson managed to extinguish blaze on her father's clothing and dragged him from the loft, later going back and beating out the blaze that was gaining headway in hay.

"Mr. Polson was one of the most highly respected citizens of the Slick Rock community and his tragic death will be mourned by a host of friends throughout the county. He was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church. He had resided in the Slck Rock section all his life.

"Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Minnie Polson; two daughters, Misses Eula and Murl Polson; a son, Mr. Jessie Polson, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Polson, Glasgow; five brothers, Messrs Jewell, O. W., and Ed Polson, Glasgow; Fred Polson, Randolph, Glasgow; Fred Polson, Randolph; Herman Polson, Knob Lick; four sisters, Mrs. May DeWeese, Glasgow; Mrs. Alice Wininger, Glasgow, R. 5; Mrs. Ola Doyle, Mammoth Cave; Mrs Verna Howell, Glasgow.

"Funeral services were held Saturday, 2 p.m. at the Mt. Pisgah Church, the Rev. Ed Slinker in charge. Burial was in the Peers cemetery, near Slick Rock."
