Fourth of five children of Waller Harrison and Mary Roberts Nunn who operated a country grocery.
Died: Thursday evening, 29 January 2004, at his residence of an apparent heart attack, age 79.
Governor of the State of Kentucky 1967-1971, the last Republican Governon until the current Governor.
Attended Bowling Green Business College, enlisted in the U S Army in 1943. After his discharge, he attended the University of Cincinnati. He received his law degree from the University of Louisville in 1950.
Married 1950 the former Beula Cornelius Aspley, the owner of a Glasgow insurance agency. She had three children by a previous marriage and she had Governon had two children:
Jennie Lou Nunn, born July 1951 and Stephen Nunn, born November 1952, Kentucy State Representative. The Governor and his wife were divorced; she preceded him in death.
Services:
10 am CST Tuesday, 3 Feb 2004, First Christian Church in Glasgow, burial in the Cosby Cemetery near the family farm at Park KY. Visitation will begin Sunday, 1 Feb 2004 at the Kerr Funeral Home in Lexington on East Main Street from 1 pm to 5 pm EST. His body will lie in state Monday 1 pm to 5 pm, Feb 2, in the state capitol rotunda in Frankfort from from 10 am to 2 pm EST. Visitation will continue Monday afternoon at A F Crow and Son Funeral Home from 4 to 8pm CST.
