"Chain Reaction Fatal to Farmer"

"Funeral services are set for Thursday, 2:30 pm at Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home for Paul Nuckols, a well-known Temple Hill farmer and Barren County businessman, who was fatally injured Tuesday morning in a four vehicle collision that occurred at the intersection of Highway 63 and county Highway 328. Four others were injured in the accident.

"Authorities stated that Nuckols, who had been mowing, was working on his tractor on the side of the road. Mike Humphrey, dirver of a 1964 Chevrolet pickup, stopped at the intersection and was talking with Nuckols, when a 1967 Oldsmobile driven by Mrs. John Bradley, Glasgow, attempted a right turn and was struck in the rear by a 1955 Chevrolet driven by Albert Smith of Temple Hill. Police said the impact of the collision knocked the Oldsmobile into the truck which struck Nuckols and the tractor.

"Humphrey was treated and released at the emergency room of Samson Community Hospital. T. C. Humhrey, a passenger in the truck indicated he was not injured. Mrs. Ava Kingrey, a passenger in the Bradley car was admitted for treat for injuries sustained in the accident and Albert Smith reportedly sought treatment at a local doctor's office. Mrs. Bradley, driver of the Oldsmobile, also reportedly sought medical aid. Trooper Page investigated the accident.

"Mr. Nuckols is survived by his wife Zelma, two brothrs, Leon and Jess, both of Glasgow, four sisters, Mrs.Haskell Sabens, Mrs. Luther Buckley, Mrs. J. R. Underwood, all of Glasgow, and Mrs. Clyde Belcher, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
