Member Shelbyville First Baptist Church, past vice-president and program director of the Shelbyville Rotary Club, past member of the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce where he served as Ambassador; member of Mensa International. Past member of the Kentucky Baptist Convention Executive Board, past member of the Pastoral Advisory Board to the Religion Department of Cumberland College, past member of the Church Relations Committee, involved with the Kentucky- Russian Baptist Partnership.
Son of: Morgan B. and Mary Harris Murphy, dec'd.
