"Mr. JAS. MEEK DIES. Mr. James Meek died at his home in the New Salem country Saturaday night last, at ten o'clock, a complication of diseases causing his death. He as in his seventy-third year when death called him.
" Mr.Meek is survived by his widow and nine children - the latter all long since arrived at mature ages and scattered all over the country. His wife is a sister of Messrs. Haide and Jim Hicks.
"Mr. Meek as a Methodist in belief, a federal soldier in the late war, and a great, unassuming, clever gentleman, who will be missed by his large circle of friends and acquaintenances.
"The remains were interred in the New Salem cemetery Sunday evening last, after funeral services conducted by Rev. J. R. Black."
