"Mr. J. H. Matthews dead At Home In Chicago.
Mr. J. H. Matthews died at his home in Chicago one day last week. Death was caused by influenza, and deceased was in his fifty-ninth year.
The body was brought back to his old home six miles from town on the Burkesville road, Sunday, and burial as Monday morning at the Poplar Springs.
Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife and four children - three boys and one daughter, and had only been in Chicago a few months when death called him. He was a most excellent man and citizen, and his death is keenly regretted by a host of friends."
