Died: Friday, 1 July 2005, Glenview Health Care Center, age 94
Born: Elbow Springs community of Barren Co
Daughter of the late Col. William Joseph Ford and Mary Chowning Jones Ford Graduate of Glasgow High School and Western Kentucky University. Retired
teacher with 50 years of service. Taught in the Glasgow, Barren Co, Shelbyville, Shelby Co and Henry Co School Systems. Became a member of First Christian Church in Glasgow in 1921 and her membership continued until her move to Shelbyville in 1940 where she was a member of the First Christian Church
until her return to Glasgow in 1983. Served in many capacities with the church, including Deacon, Sunday School teacher and CWF leader.

She was active in many civic organizations; member of all local, state and national education associations, member Kentucky Eastern Seals Society, member Red Cross Society, member Western Kentucky University Alumni Association, commissioned a Kentucky Colonel for her service to education by Gov. Julian Carroll; member Shelby Co Community Theater; member of the Kentucky Historical Society. She donated four mantles to the Mary Todd Lincoln House during its restoration by Beula Nunn. She also helped found the Museum of the Barrens where she served five years as clerk in the thrift shop.

Survivors:
Two sons: Fred H Mathis Jr and wife Joyce of Frankfort KY and Benjamin Ford Mathis and wife Cynthia of Independence
Four grandchildren: Kelly Ford Mathis, Elizabeth Marie Mathis Adkins, Kathryn Rose Mathis, Frederick and Matthew Ford Mathis
Two step-grandchildren: Mrs Kim Harden and Doug Ellegood Mathis
Six great-grandchildren
Preceded also in death by:
Husband: Fred H Mathis Sr
Two brothers: Edgar Lee Ford and Paul Howard Ford
Services: Friday, 8 July 2005, 2 pm, Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home, burial Hiseville Cemetery.
