James L. LOWREY - 25 Decc 1867 - 19 Feb 1940

"Mr. James L. Lowery, 72, prominent Barren County farmer, died at his home in the Temple Hill section Monday at 12:30 p.m. He had been in ill health for some time and his condition became serious two weeks ago. Death was caused by a complication of diseases.

"Mr. Lowery devoted his entire life to farming in the Temple Hill section and was widely known throughout the county. Jovial and pleasant at all times he was a man of high standing in his community.

"The Times always considered Mr. Lowery one of its warmest and most loyal friends. He was a kind and considerate father, a good neighbor and leaves a host of friends to mourn his passing. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

"Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Martine Sabens Lowery; two daughters, Misses Myrtis and Mary Lowery, at home; a sister, Mrs. O. T. Sabens, Morrison Park section; a half-sister, Mrs. Ersie Thomerson, Glasgow R. 4; and three half-brothers, Messrs. J. S. Lowery, Eighty Eight; J.. Lowery and H. H. Lowery, Temple Hill.

"Funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Pleasant Church Wednesday at 1 p.m., the Revs. C. E. Carter and L. D. Robinson in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery."
