Born in and lifelong resident of Temple Hill, seventh generation of his family to farm the Revolutionary War Grant farm. Member Temple Hill Baptist Church, and as a child attended the one room Millersburg School. His leisure time usually spent in the area cattle stockyards, known as a gifted storyteller. For the past year, he had resided at the Barren County Health Care Facility where he considered the entire staff his extended family.

Nieces: Dawn Drake of Tampa FL and Margaret Pope and husband Scott of NM
