Joseph Houchens

Mr. Joseph Houchens, 70, the father of eighteen children, died at his home on the Glasgow-Flippin road one mile south of Glasgow Monday afternoon around 4:30 o'clock. He had been in ill health about three weeks.

He was a member of the Peters Creek Baptist Church at Lucas. Funeral services were held at Poplar Log Tuesday at 2 p.m., the Rev. T. F. Grider in charge. Burial was in the cemetery there.

Surviving are his wife and the following children: Myrtie, Janie, Ruth, Herman and Frances, all at home; Ballard Houchens, Indianapolis; Walter Houchens and Mrs. Janie Peden, Glasgow, R. 4; Roy Houchens and Mrs. Tompie Kinslow, Glasgow, R. 2; Everett Houchens, Glasgow, R. 6; Roy Kinslow, of Chicago, Mrs. Nona Capp, Mrs. Littie Mae Hotz and Mrs. Alta Miller, of Detroit; Morgan Houchens, Darlington, Ind; and Wendell Houchens of Ft. Worth, Texas. Two sisters also survive."
