"Mrs. Wm. Hicks, wife of Capt. Wm. Hicks, of the Austin country, died at the home of her husband last Friday. Mrs. Hicks was one of the most universally esteemed and beloved ladies in the county. She was a devoted member of the Methodist church, and had long lived a consecrated Christian life. Her death came after a lingering illness of consumption, and is sincerely lamented by her acquaintences everywhere. The funeral took place at the Tracy Methodist church last Sunday in the presence of a large assemblage of sorrowing friends and relives, and the burial immediately afterwards."
