Name: George Helm

Died: 23 Oct 1975, fatally injured when the tractor he was driving overturned. According to state police he was passing a tractor driven by Floyd Wood of Dry Fork when the wheels of the vehicle collided. Helm’s tractor overturned on top of him according to reports. He was rushed to Samson Community Hospital by ambulance but died a short time later. The accident occurred on the highway in front of Austin Tracy School where Helm taught school for 33 years and was school principal for 11 years. Earlier Thursday Helm was involved in a two car accident that occurred at the intersection of Happy Valley Road and Highway 90. Driver of the other vehicle was identified as Selma Pedigo Hook who was treated and released at Community Hospital.
He taught summer school at WKU for three years and is a former Captain in the personnel department of the Kentucky State Police.

Services: 2 pm Sunday, Memory Chapel of A F Crow and Son Funeral Home, burial Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
